There are different types of work slots:
Stabilised work slots
These slots aim to cover requirements that recur every year, primarily those for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance or the execution of short-duration works.
Special work slots
These irregular slots are intended for the conduct of specific work: investment works, the renovation of existing installations, major maintenance operations (on tracks, track devices, structures, electric traction installations), work for third parties, etc.
As such, Réseau Ferré de France may be required to define no-traffic periods in order to carry out unexpected works, particularly in the event of an emergency or absolute necessity, or works that cannot be scheduled.
