Why you should become a supplier
Becoming one of our suppliers means joining a large-scale project that is key to French transport and that will help give it a face for the 21st century. It also means working for sustainable development, one of our constant concerns as we develop our network.
Given the general climate of increased interest in railway transport, our purchasing needs are set to increase to meet the following needs:
for new lines recommended by the Environment Round Table,
for the renewal of the existing network, on which traffic is set to increase.
The long-term trend for this growth is around 10% each year.
How to become a supplier
We carry out our major purchases in two ways:
by consulting previously qualified companies
by consulting companies that have shown an interest after seeing our advertisements
For purchases that require prior qualification
More recurring purchases, in particular purchases that are specific to the railway sector, are governed by a qualification system: this may include supply, construction work or engineering services. The purpose of this qualification is to check possible suppliers’ capacity to meet the needs of Réseau Ferré de France. The management of Réseau Ferré de France’s qualification systems is out-sourced to SNCF, which uses these suppliers to meet its own needs.
The following general principles are common to each qualification system:
the maximum investigation period for a qualification request is generally four months from receipt of the full application,
qualification is given for a period of four years renewable, but it may be revoked at any time if the requirements for acceptance are no longer met,
a company’s qualification cannot be extended to its subsidiaries, which must request their own qualification.
