The outlook of the rail environment cannot be dissociated from a responsible approach, which aims to contribute to the development of the country while respecting the demands of the community.
our vision
Increasing responsibilities with respect to stakeholders
For ten years now, the rail system has seen some major changes. While those involved in railways are diversifying, the expectations expressed with regards to the infrastructure manager by its stakeholders are also changing. These changes have therefore led to new missions for Réseau Ferré de France, called on to take on more responsibility in terms of organising traffic.
However the level of performance that is expected of us first requires our ability to deploy an industrial and economic model that creates added value for the community. Réseau Ferré de France could not lead a solitary management policy for a network destined to be used by all. On the contrary, our force comes from the wealth and diversity of our stakeholders, who become real partners involved in the implementation of large projects.
Combining new requests from our customers, the production of our industrial suppliers, the requirements of co-investors of the network and the contribution of representatives from civil partnerships, Réseau Ferré de France is thus establishing itself in the long-term as a pivot for the rail system.

The management of economical, social and environmental impacts
As mobility is currently an integral part of our contemporary way of life, it must subscribe to a sustainable model. The national rail network ensures over 10% of the transport of passengers and merchandise. Its objective is to efficiently meet energy saving requirements, while contributing to the balanced development of the French and European economies.
Investments by Réseau Ferré de France must contribute to the accessibility of regions, to serving economic solidarity and to managing the impacts on the human and natural environments, with a view to being socially useful. They contribute to a management policy based on managing overall costs.
The success of a proactive policy for the development of rail transport therefore relies on our ability to improve the state of the network to reinforce its level of performance and continually adapt it to our customers’ requests.
