Our heritage in detail
Réseau Ferré de France has a property portfolio comprising 103,000 hectares of land with 23,400 buildings of varying types (4.7 million m2): offices, technical buildings, goods depots, workshops...
This heritage, which includes both property that forms part of the railway infrastructure, as well as buildings that are not needed for the transport sector, is made up of:
Property given to Réseau Ferré de France by the State when the company was created in 1997,
Property that our company has purchased since 1 January 1997,
Property that we have built on our land since 1 January 1997,
Property originally built by a third party with occupancy permission, but which now forms part of the assets of Réseau Ferré de France.
Property located on “railway land”
Our “railway land” property is characterised by plots that do not serve only the railway lines and on which there are often buildings.
Our property:
Is used for more purposes than just laying railway tracks, and houses facilities for users: platforms, pedestrian fly-overs, passenger shelters etc.),
Can be used for other purposes than passing train traffic (maintenance and parking for passenger trains),
Also includes buildings used by the SNCF (French National Railway) to maintain the network, and by users (railway transport companies, other companies etc.).
Property located on “non-railway land”
Our “non railway land” property comprises:
Holdings (bare land) for laying railway tracks,
All facilities that make up the railway infrastructure but that are not located on railway land, such as the rails, level crossings, major structures, technical buildings and gatehouses.
